A mobile jaw crusher consumes 12–45 litres of fuel per hour, depending on its power output, the density of the raw material and operating conditions. Irregular maintenance increases fuel consumption by 20–30%. Sorting the raw material, avoiding prolonged idling and carrying out maintenance on time all help to save fuel.
A mobile jaw crusher consumes between 12 and 45 litres of fuel per hour of operation; with consumption depending on the unit’s power, the density of the raw material being processed and the operating mode; costs can be reduced through timely maintenance and the efficient organisation of the work process without unnecessary downtime.
Fuel consumption is directly influenced by the crusher’s engine power: low-capacity models consume around 12–18 litres per hour, whilst heavy-duty units designed for processing hard rock consume up to 45 litres per hour. This figure is also influenced by the density of the raw material, the idling speed and the regularity of maintenance; if filters are not replaced regularly or the fuel supply is not properly adjusted, consumption may increase by 20–30 per cent.
Pre-sorting raw materials helps to reduce costs: removing excess moisture and fractions that do not require crushing reduces the load on the engine by 15 per cent. It is also important to avoid prolonged idling: whilst waiting for a load, it is better to switch the unit to a reduced speed rather than running at full capacity without a load; this can save up to 25 per cent in fuel per shift.
Replacing fuel and air filters in good time, adjusting the fuel injection and checking the condition of the injectors help to keep fuel consumption within the manufacturer’s specified limits. It is also worth monitoring the tyre pressure on the mobile crusher’s chassis and lubricating moving parts in good time, thereby reducing resistance during movement and operation of the unit, which prevents unnecessary wastage of resources.
