For narrow quarry benches (8–12 m), choose a mobile jaw crusher: chassis width ≤3 m, turning circle ≤9 m, hopper angle ≥42°, weight ≤45 tonnes; do not opt for standard models.
For work in quarries with narrow benches up to 12 metres wide, in accordance with the Engineering Reference Guide, it is optimal to select mobile jaw crushers with a maximum track width of no more than 3 metres, based on actual measurement data from manufacturers of specialised mining equipment.
According to the official specifications of leading brands of mobile crushing plants, the width of the unit in the transport position must not exceed 3.2 metres, which allows them to move freely along quarry access roads with a carriageway width of 4 metres or more, based on actual measurement data from operating mining enterprises.
According to the calculated values for safe manoeuvring on benches between 8 and 12 metres wide, the turning radius of a mobile jaw crusher must not exceed 9 metres, in accordance with the engineering reference range for mining equipment operating in confined spaces.
According to field data, when operating on sites with limited space, the angle of inclination of the unit’s receiving hopper must be at least 42 degrees, which ensures uninterrupted loading of rock without the need to extend the excavator’s unloading area.
The maximum width of the chassis in the transport position is no more than 3 metres according to actual measurements; the turning circle is no more than 9 metres based on calculated values; the angle of inclination of the receiving hopper is not less than 42 degrees according to official specifications, and the permissible width of the working area of the benchtop ranges from 8 to 12 metres according to engineering reference ranges.
Is it possible to use a standard mobile jaw crusher on benches less than 10 metres wide? According to the engineering reference guidelines, this is not recommended, as standard models have a chassis width of 3.5 metres, which creates a risk of tipping whilst manoeuvring. How does the weight of the machine affect its ability to operate on narrow benches? According to field data from quarries with unstable ground, the machine’s weight must not exceed 45 tonnes to prevent the tracks from sinking into the service roads. Is it necessary to make further modifications to the machine before working on narrow benches? According to the manufacturers’ official recommendations, it is sufficient simply to check that the receiving hopper’s angle of inclination is correctly adjusted to ensure uninterrupted rock loading without the need for further modifications.
